Federico Fellini was one of the most celebrated and distinctive filmmakers of his time and his work is deeply admired by Vilhelm Parfumerie founder, Jan Ahlgren, who became quite the aficionado during the time he spent in Italy. Ahlgren explains, “he was a genius who couldn’t look at the world without “framing” an image to capture on film. The Academy Award winning Fellini was a larger-than-life maestro whose career spanned five decades. His fascination with women and femininity was a recurring theme in his films. Dubbed a cherub by many, he had quite a reputation and always a different woman by his side. Despite this, he had only one enduring love, his wife and muse of 50 years, Guilietta Masina, and stayed married to her until his death. A bon vivant, Fellini is rumored to have requested extra fresh basil with many meals for its aphrodisiac effect. One of his favorite dishes was risotto bianco adorned with leaves of basil. Ahlgren says “in his films, he felt that show life, you must show people eating as much as sleeping and making love.” A fusion of art and sensuality, Basilico & Fellini brings this partnership to life. Basilico & Fellini is bright and fresh with a bit of spice in its first impression through notes of Drago Fruit and Basil. The heart and base are a mixture of Violet, Wild Fig, Vetiver and Green Hay. Life inspired Fellini. Fellini and fresh basil inspired this cool seductive fragrance.
